Finance Minister meets with stakeholders to discuss the Upper Murrumbidgee River.

On Saturday afternoon 8 February at Tharwa in the southern ACT, stakeholders met with the Commonwealth Minister for Finance and ACT Senator, the Hon Katy Gallagher. The focus of the gathering was the health of the Upper Murrumbidgee River and options to improve its future. A diverse range of expertise was shared including the need for a key document to be reviewed. This document is the Snowy Water Inquiry Outcomes Implementation Deed (SWIOID), which underpins environmental water releases made to the Snowy and Montane Rivers including the Upper Murrumbidgee River, via the NSW Water Licence for Snowy Hydro Ltd. It was agreed to in 2002 and has not been reviewed or updated since.
